Summary: The Sales Engineer for Customised Compounds will be responsible for developing the engineering thermoplastics business within Germany. This role involves managing current accounts, creating strategic prospecting plans, and identifying OEMs for product specifications. Key responsibilities include leading technical sales presentations, evaluating sales leads, and setting and achieving sales goals in alignment with company budgets. The position requires proactive customer engagement, frequent travel, and strong collaboration with the Sales Manager and engineering teams. The company: Our client is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics with multiple manufacturing plants located in North America, Europe and Asia. They develop customised thermoplastic compounds in numerous engineering resin systems for applications requiring colour, conductive, elastomeric, flame retardant, high temperature, structural and wear-resistant properties. The role: The company is currently looking to recruit a Sales Engineer with experience of developing Engineering Thermoplastics compounds business in Germany. This position will report to Sales Manager – Europe. The role will require frequent travel within the region. Prior experience in thermoplastic compound sales and/or product development is highly desirable. Key Responsibilities: • Manages current accounts within the sales territory. This includes developing account plans for the strategic accounts. • Develops a prospecting plan within the territory which focuses on strategic customers or markets. • Identifies specific OEM’s in the territory where can work to get the company’s materials specified. • Performs high level sales activity to include, but not limited to, leading technical sales presentations to current and potential customers, evaluating and prospecting sales leads, creating new sales strategies that target and position company’s strategic products at targeted accounts, and communicating technical product development needs to management and engineering staff. • Sets and achieves sales goals that align with assigned budgets and growth initiatives. • Open to visiting customers several times a week. Main Requirements: • The geographic (preferable) location of the position is the north / north-west Germany. • Proven sales skills with a successful track record of sales in industrial markets. • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain long-term customer relationships. • Strong negotiation and technical presentation skills. • Ability to work independently and in a team environment. • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use internal support as needed. • Proficiency in English / knowledge of German language. • Other languages are very appreciated. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and the use of CRM systems. • Bachelor’s degree (business and/or technical degree preferred).
